The Truth Is a Cave in the Black Mountains

The Truth Is a Cave in the Black Mountains:

A Tale of Travel and Darkness with Pictures of All Kinds

Here's is my painting for a pivotal moment from Neil Gaiman's short story, The Truth Is A Cave in the Black Mountains.

I drew influence from old religious paintings that showed suffering. Often an objectively horrifying moment is being depicted that, if portrayed accurately, would be disgusting. Instead, these moments are honorific and symbolize the event, allowing us to take it in and feel.
